Seshomaru Samma Posted July 8, 2007 Report Share Posted July 8, 2007 basically in outlook you have some sort of wizard called Import and Export Wizard (probably from accessed from file>import and export)you can then choose 'export to a file' ,save that file on a USB or a CD and when you reinstall outlook on a new machine or new OS you can choose 'import from a file'If you install Thunderbird it will ask you if you want to import Oulook's settings/mail.However you need a working Windows installation to do it. You might be able to copy the entire Outlook folder using a Live CD like Knoppix and import your settings from there but I am not sure it will work. There will always be some data loss involved.Much better just to move the PST file from one system to the other. Once the PST file is on the new system, make sure it doesn't have the read-only attribute set, then just open it with Outlook (File | Open | Outlook data file).
