Problem after loading XP SP2

"Sometimes" only, and sometimes not? That would rather be strange.

Two things I recommend:

  1. defragment your C: drive
  2. check your startup items; Startup Inspector is very good in showing, advising, and disabling useless startup items

I have about 50% of all my default startup items disabled, and XP boots quite fast. If you are unsure about what items to disable, please feel free to ask here.

I can also vouch for Startup Inspector. I only have twelve out of fifty two programs running at start up. My computer takes about one minute and forty seconds to start up fully. This includes the time it takes to download the daily AV updates for Nod 32.
