andsome
Try downloading and running 'Diskeeper lite'http://download.com.com/3000-2248-10135248.html
Guest Nellie2
Oh andsome got in there before me but I would agree with him. I have stopped using the windows defrag utility now. Disk keeeper lite is so much faster and it seems to do a better job!!

Prince of Calcutta
have you tried defragging in safe mode ?
Guest LB
madboy, defragging only affects the hard drive and not the memory therefore ramdisk wouldnt cause a problem. There are sometimes files on your hard drive that are not moveable (i.e hidden files, system files etc) and these are the files that are not able to be defragged.I totally agree with the others regarding Diskeeper Lite..... madboy33
I am going to go with ellas on this one as there was no problem with XP prior to the RAM DISK
