awelch Posted August 8, 2007 Report Share Posted August 8, 2007 So heres the problem: I have 2 WD raptor HDs in Raid 0. I partitioned the drive using partition magic and set it up to do partition for installing Linux to dual boot on the second partition. The installation didn't work, but now when I try to load into windows my computer says "No operating system detected" and when I try and reinstall Windows using the CDs it says "No hard disc detected". I think what I have to do is reformat my drive, but I have no clue how to do that. Also if I reformat C: (which is really 2 HDs) will it remove my raid setup? Please help! awelch Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Share Posted August 9, 2007 well in bios i changed SATA config from raid to standard IDE. when I do this i get the list of ide master and slaves. The first HD is set to 3rd IDE slave and the second is set to 4th IDE slave. I can access both drives, but when i boot up i get a message that says no master IDE drive detected press f1 to resume. How can I change one of the drives that is set as slave to master? Also if I no longer want raid 0 is that all I have to do or is there anything else I need to change? My mobo is asus p5w DH deluxe. Scarecrow Man Posted August 9, 2007 Report Share Posted August 9, 2007 You may need to rebuild the raid using the utility on your motherboard or add-in card. Most computers have a feature before the OS loads that allows you to setup the raid configuration. For example, the computer I am on requires you to press CRTL+F.You may want to check with the owners manual to see how this menu is accessed, and make sure that all options are correct.
