newton_21989
I've read multiple tutorials on how to extend speech recognition into all of XP, but I keep coming to this part and not finding answers. I've been all over Google. Can someone tell me what to do if my Text Services and Input Languages window looks like this:PermalinkEDIT: Thought I'd give you a specific tutorial to look at. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/s...eptember23.mspx
-pops-
Not an answer to your question but, the speech recognition software in XP is basic, to say the least and resembles the very poor efforts of the first versions IBM's ViaVoice. Possibly good in its time, compared with modern speech recognition software it's a non starter and not really worth the effort of setting up. It requires a lot of training before it will recognise just a reasonable number words and the time taken correcting its errors will probably take longer that to type the whole thing in the first place. If you have a need for speech recognition software, have a look at the up-to-date independent ones but even these, in my opinion, leave a lot to be desired. Lots of people would disagree with that but I don't think they would argue with my comments on the XP version if they have used, say, one of the modern Dragon versions. newton_21989
Thanks for the input, at least. Ya, I know what a pain it can be to set up with all the "This Papaya Tastes Perfect" stuff, but it's nice to only half to type half the time, which is about how well speech recognition works. But, it's frustrating when all I have left to do is check a check box and, where's the check box?! Anyone else use x64 and have gotten this to work, or looking for the same answer?
