Jack Kelly
Hi there,I use standby on my home theatre PC (running Windows XP SP2 and Media Portal). When I wake the system from standby, I do NOT want Windows to prompt me for my password. As such, I have gone to Display Properties > Screen Saver > Power > Advanced and I've de-selected the "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby". I then click "Apply" and then "OK". The problem is that Windows forgets that I've de-selected this box and re-selects it! I've tried de-selecting this box several times but Windows keep forgetting my setting!I've tried de-selecting it and then immediately re-booting (the hope being that Windows will save my settings when it shuts down) but that doesn' t help.I've also tried saving the "Power Scheme" but that doesn't help.My WinXP box is setup with a single user (me) which has a password enabled. My WinXP SP2 box has all the latest updates from Windows.Any clues as to how to fix this bug? Does anyone know where the "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" setting is in the registry? I've tried searching the registry for "standby" but I haven't found any useful settings. Many thanks,Jack
