adgjqetuo
This isn't really a trouble, but I need some opinions. I'm moving back into school soon, and I thought about buying a 160gb Western Digital Portable External Hard Drive...however from reading about them online, it's half and half if people are happy with them or not. I have a laptop, and some people mentioned that they needed an external power source to power it with a laptop? My laptop is a gateway tablet PC if that helps any. Also, a lot of people reported frequent write and read errors....I guess what I'm trying to get at is, how reliable are they (in general)? I want to keep all my important stuff on there (Pictures, Movies, Music, term papers, etc). incase my laptop ever crashed and I’d have it separate...So I need it to be pretty reliable. If you guys don't recommend this one, which ones do you recommend that might be better? I'm looking for small and portable though....^ Like that. Thanks for any help and insight!Mike
-pops-
Not answering your question, I know but, do you need your external drive to be portable? If you are using it as a data store and backup then it doesn't need to be with you all the time. You can leave it at home and transfer your files/data and do your backups and such like later. This way you can have a full size - with much larger capacity and possibly greater reliability.

I don't need more then 120-160gb of space. I only use up 40gb on my laptop now.
andsome
I use a Western Digital plug in USB hard drive. It needs a power supply. I have had no problems with it at all. :D
