double click to open

It started with my drives. when I double clicked a drive say C: it would not open but went to search. If i right click the drive, search is at top of command list. Folders in the drive opened on double click and when I right click the folder, open is at the top of the command list. I fiddled in the folder options--file types--advanced, which didnt seem very logical ,and now drives AND folders go to search on double click. Grrrr!! Individual files open on double click. I want everything to open on double click dammit. PLease help.

I've had this issue with a install on virtualbox, I've gone to double click on a folder and it opens up properties, I think it has something to do with a registry file but i fixed it by reinstalling as it wasn't a important install :).

would love to hear the fix though.

This Registry Fix from Kellys Corner should fix it :) - http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm - Line 18 Column 2

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits...openssearch.reg

Save the REG File to your hard disk.

Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
