westwind
So I have the latest RDC on a few computers (v6) and after I enter in the IP/Computer I get a pop up for the "user name & password" All the computers log on automatically and do not require a user name or password to log on, so what do I put there? Both systems are running XP home with all the latest updates. Running McAfee Security center on both systems as well. Thanks, westwind
Scarecrow Man
You may need to provide the Administrator password. If this password is blank, I recommend entering a password. Even a simple password is more secure than no password.
ithonicfury
You enter the username and password to log into the machine your connecting to. If you have XP Home on the computer your trying to connect to, it wont work. XP Home will only function as a client for Remote Desktop.Assuming you are connecting to an XP Pro machine, then if the logon is automatic then chances are that the password is blank. Remote Desktop will not allow blank passwords to be used (unless you change the security policy.)If you go to User properties in the Control Panel and look at your account you will see your username, if it says "Password Protected" then you just need to find your password. If not you should either add one or change the security policy (not really recommended.)
