MS Word won't allow DELETE or BACKSPACE keys

In a Word document I'm editing, the Backspace and Delete keys don't work at the end of certain paragraphs. I've tried converting styles and a few other things, but can't figure this one out. Any ideas?

Very difficult to analyse.

I once had an enormous document to edit, which had been 'appended' by a number of people. It was almost impossible! There was an MOD involvement, who required it to be in the same (their) formatting throughout!

In my case, much of it was as a result of the various software used to insert certain information.

Could there possibly be any protection which has not been passed on to you?

Thanks for the reply, but I gave up and started a new document. I've been using Word forever, and I still can't figure out how the Styles feature works. I'm usually able to brute-force my way through, but not this time.
