uninstall Client Services for Netware

I set up my daughter's pc with the usual Windows Welcome screen containing three user icons, an icon of her name, her other half's name, and Admin.

Recently she had trouble accessing the Internet with the BT Hub and getting her BT email to work. (This happened after a big power cut.)

She contacted BT about it. They *took over* her pc, go her up and running again. And set her up with a new email address (dunno why).

Trouble is BT left her with the Classic Logon dialog box, that only gives the one user.

While she was here visiting recently, I have tried to change it back to three user icons (the Windows welcome screen).

I got a message pop-up saying I needed to Uninstall Client Services for Netware. As I dunno what this is, so I left it alone ftb, in case it affected her BT Internet connection when she got home.

Do you know what this is all about. There seem to be a few folk with the same problem on the Internet - I googled - but failed to find a solution.

Is it safe to uninstall Client Services for Netware? And if so, how..??

If you don't have Netware installed, then you don't need the client.

To uninstall open Network Connections from the Control Panel, then select the appropriate Local Area Connection. On the Local Area Connection Status panel click on Properties, and here you can see all installed network components. Uninstall the Netware client from here.

When the message talks about Netware, I suppose it is referring to Novell NetWare

A local-area network (LAN) operating system developed by Novell Corporation. NetWare is a software product that runs on a variety of different types of LANs, from Ethernets to IBM token-ring networks. It provides users and programmers with a consistent interface that is independent of the actual hardware used to transmit messages.

AFAIK we've never installed nor used the product.

Pat is right. I've removed it before myself and as far as I know that is the only method. Have they made an uninstaller?

This is a networking service that is part of Windows, like TCP/IP. There is no independent uninstaller.
