doug Posted November 1, 2007 Report Share Posted November 1, 2007 My friend has just purchased a laptop that came with Vista Home Premium. I have set it up - including creating the restore disks etc. I now want to create addition setups for the HP printer that's been installed. A doddle in XP I just go to add a printer use my existing one, give the copy a different name then change the printer configuration. Now I've never seen Vista before and can't find the way to do it. I only have one instance of each printer installed and simply change the properties for special print jobs. I never knew you could install two or more setup versions in XP and cannot see how to do it in Vista.I presume you tried a jolly good googling...? I know Morag can go into the printer properties for the printer and change them each time but as I have found it so much simpler to create several printer versions in XP I thought it would be so much easier for her to have the same capability in vista to make things easier for her as she is quite new to digital life, Ronnie, her other half is only just coming to terms with Freecell! doug Posted November 2, 2007 Author Report Share Posted November 2, 2007 If this could help anyone to answer this question - in XP, after clicking start, it shows the pane on the left and under Printers it shows the option to add a printer. I click on that and it does a search. I then finish up telling it to use the same printer - which I then rename as - say - draft. I then go into that and set up the characteristics I want. Handy to have a draft B & W, Normal colour and best quality gloss colour for photos. surely there must be an equivalent capability in vista but not having that OS to play with I'm stumped.
