AlanHo
Email received today.... The governments of Denmark and Norway have formally apologised to England today for the invasion of this country in the 8th and 9th century. "We accept that the Vikings did indeed avoid passport controls and failed to follow health and safety regulations guidelines when raping and pillaging English villages," a Danish spokesmen said, "The regulations that the EEC have drawn up in the 21st century simply weren't followed in the 8th century," he added. However he pointed out that even had these regulations been available then, no-one would have been able to read them as the whole country apart from three monks in Glastonbury were illiterate. A Norwegian minister was more aggressive. "Global warming and the increase in carbon dioxide now can be directly attributed to an Anglo-Saxon, one Alfred the Great. Had he not burnt the cakes the current melting of the polar icecaps could have been avoided," he claimed. "After all it was a member of the Viking conservation corps, one Canute, who attempted to stop this pollution and warned of rising sea levels" he stated.
