andsome
I can't understand why you have only just updated to SP2. Have you tried a system restore to before this problem occurred? Have you a back up of your system that you can install? Have you tried uninstalling SP2 and then reinstalling it?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Installing SP2 on a malware-infected system can have this effect. You must remove any malware before installing SP2, otherwise you will not be able to repair your system any more.Restore your system to a point before you installed SP2, remove all malware, then install SP2 again. Or wait until SP3 becomes available later this month.

Scarecrow Man
You might want to give the System File Checker a run.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Remove both before removing SP2. However, I am not sure if you will be able to remove (uninstall SP2) with your situation. It may be necessary to restore your system with a backup that you have hopefully made before installing SP2.
