Does it actually shut down (like if you went to Start > Shutdown), or does it just power off? (or does it reboot?)

If it reboots then chances are that it could be a driver problem or memory issue maybe (just the main two of many issues it could be).

You could run memtest86 (you should be able to find it by googling, and on their site will be instructions on how to use it) on it to see if its memory. Also Right Click on My Computer, go to Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery (i think thats what its called), and where it says something like On System Failure:, uncheck Reboot automatically.

Then the next time it happens you'll get a blue screen with some error codes which you can then post or google to see whats wrong.
