onlineapps
Hi,I legally own two HP Compaq nc6000 laptops. Each came with Windows XP Professional. Unfortunately, they're both screwed up. However, I only have one Windows XP Professional CD. So I installed it on one computer. However, it used a serial number that was different from the one that came with the computer. So I changed it to the serial number it came with (using instructions from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328874). Can I now install the XP CD on the other computer without Windows thinking it's a pirated copy?

Craig
Good Evening,Follow the same procedure as you did for the first PC and you wont have an issue. We follow the same sort of procedure at work; we have a computer image with a CD key already entered in the XP installation, we just change it when we boot up the PC for the first time and activate if required.
