shelterdog
My Dell Dimension desktop uses Windows XP-Home Edition I'm trying to capture video from a mini-DVD on my videocam, using Adobe Premier Elements 3.0, and it keeps hanging up. When I PLAY the DVD on the same drive, it played fine. So I tried manually copying the files from the DVD to my hard drive, on the theory that perhaps there was something wrong with the DVD drive. Windows got about 99% of the way, and then gave this message: "Cannot copy. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."Does this mean that the file is corrupt? Any idea if there's a way to retrieve or rescue it?

shelterdog
Thanks for the suggestions. I downloaded and ran the program, which did clean up most, but not all, of the problems on the disk. I also tried cleaning it. However, it still hung up. I'll try copying it and, if that works, capture the video from the copied DVD. We'll see. Thanks again for the ideas, though. If you have any more, please feel free to chime in.
