PhilB
I did a complete factory reset of My Sony Vaio. The OS is Windows XP professional. Now I cannot get it to update to SP2 because It won't update anything till it has installed Background Intelligent Transfer Service. This always fails to install, but gives no reason.Anyone got any ideas.Phil

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
If nothing else helps, have a look at this articlehttp://www.castlecops.com/t106642-How_To_F...wly_Edited.htmlI know it is very long, but there are many different kind of problems with BITS.The easiest would be if you could provide the error code that prevents BITS from installing / functioning correctly. You could try to check the Event Log for an error number, but it may also be found in the C:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log
