llynxx Posted January 22, 2008 Report Share Posted January 22, 2008 I'm not sure on the proper words or terminology to use in describing this problem so please be patient.I can't see the notification bubble that pops up on the taskbar icons next to the clock, such as, when I get a notification for "found new hardware" or "disk drive full", etc. For example...when i plug in a new device the icon shows on the taskbar (next to the clock) and i can hear the pop, but can't see the "found new hardware", "installing new hardware" or the "your new hardware has been installed" messages that are supposed to follow. Everything usually goes well, but when it doesn't i can't see this message. I also can't see a message for disk full or desktop icon cleanup.I've seen this happen on other computers also. When the computer is new the notification bubble is there but after installing all the windows updates the notification bubble disappears. This has happened on two laptops running windows xp prof, on one desktop running windows xp prof, and two desktops running windows xp home.Any help will be appreciated. See if that restores the Notification Balloon.Hey i think you might got something there, but when i right click "customize Notifications" is grayed out and is the only one grayed out, so the problem im having is probably related to this. Any ideas? I will google this.Ok i googled and found out how to ungray the customize notifications. I followed ur instructions, but dont have any new hardware to hook up, so i will have to get back with u guys to see if this works. Thanx for the help so far. llynxx Posted June 2, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 2, 2008 Ok I got lucky and found the solution myself....Go to Start...Run...type "regedit"...(at this point ima do it the lazy way) go to Edit at top of window...go to Find...type "balloon"...hit F3 until you see "enableballoontips"....right click on this then click "modify"....change value to "1"...exit and reboot.Fooling around in the registry is dangerous and can have dire effects so do this at your own risk.
