Stargazer
Hi all - hope someone here can help me. I'm a PC user rather than a software techie, so please forgive me if there's an obvious asnswer to my question.I'm using an Excel workbook with 30 worksheets. The workbook tracks payments to contractors on various projects, and I'm trying to use a pivot table on each sheet in turn to give me a quick total of payments to each contractor for that project. The problem I'm having is intermittent; on the worksheets when I run the table I pull down the contractor's name and get the desired one entry per contractor. Then I pull down the payment header, and I should get a sum total of all payments to that contractor. But on some, not all, sheets it gives me a count of payments instead of a sum total. I have checked the formatting, ensuring that the cells are formatted correctly The usual formatting in this area is number, 2 decimal places, but I have tried changing the formatting to accounting, and also to currency, without any change. What am I doing wrong? Irene
Hello Stargazer! Welcome to the forum. :D I'm not very conversant with PivotTables, but perhaps you could look in the help section for them.If you enter. 'value total' in the Answer Wizard, it comes up with this...Also, check that your formula is the same in each worksheet - probably a bit obvious to mention, but I thought it was worth saying. Hope you find something useful in there. :D
