Logitech Speakers Issue

Hi there, :flowers:

I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue my PC seems to have regarding Logitech speakers. (sorry for coming ramble *blush*)

Last year I was using a pair of L pc speakers with no problems, and then my daughter bought me a 5.1 surround sound set. (X530). They worked for a while, then suddenly stopped audio output/no LED light, and only the phone jack for the headphones worked.

I replaced them with my original pc speakers (again Logitech) and these suddenly have the exact same issue!

I run Windows XP Pro,

Gigabyte Motherboard.

Soundcard Realtek AC97 (which was altered to 5.1 surround, now back to pc speakers). Driver version/date: 5.10.0.625, 07/08/2007

KLite Mega Codec Pack installed. (as well as Legacy Audio /Vid codecs)

The odd thing is, on the AC97 settings/test speakers, it showed that all speakers were found, but no sound emitted when tested.

I contacted Logitech explaining and all they suggested I check my soundcard - which is perfect, btw ( I've tried Goodmans and various other speakers with on my pc with no issues).

I'd be truly grateful for any suggestions, as I am stuck with a surround sound set I can't return due to my daughter mislaying the sales receipt *grr* and can't afford to buy a new set.

Thanks in advance,

Cali :)

Are you able to test the speakers on another computer?

Even without a sales receipt, I would have expected you to get more help from Logitech.

Hi -Pops- :) Thanks for replying.

Unfortunately, I don't have another pc at present, and as I've moved recently, I'm too far away from family/friends to hand them over for a check out.

As for Logitech, (I went to Support at their website) they were no help at all. Their reply was rather patronizing: mentioning my soundcard as a possible/most likely issue, and asking for details - which I had initially.!

btw, I checked my soundcard for problems/check for driver update before I contacted them- also checked the Compatibility List at MS site. ( I have Windows update on auto, so am up to date with all patches, etc)

The thing that gets me is that my Logitech PC speakers were perfect working order before the swapover, but when changing back, they had the identical problem as the X530's *scratches head*

Plug your audio jack for the speakers into the headphone socket on a radio, CD or other player to check whether they are working. Ensure the power supply to the speakers is on.

If they work via that route you will know it is the PC at fault.

My guess, since you have tried two sets of speakers on the PC, is that the sound system on the PC is at fault and we need to find out why.

Thanks, AlanHo, will unpack them and try that out. :)

I've tried several other brands of speakers on my PC (eg: Goodmans, Trust) and they work perfectly. It is just the Logitech brands that only now work using headphones via the (plugged into the Logitech speaker) jack. Very strange!
