renu
Hi, I have a T42 IBM laptop. When I start a new program it sometimes asks me if I want to allow the program to access the internet/trusted zone. And this setting can be made permanent. My question is how do I change this. In case I made the setting permanent in the past. From allow to deny or back. Thanks
MANEMAN
You are dealing here with your firewall settings. In all probability it will be as simple as going into the settings of your firewall and un-ticking a box against the particular program you have disallowed into the internet/trusted zone.If you have a problem with this, and have to come back here, state which firewall you are using and someone will guide you through it. renu
Thanks Maneman. I have Mcafee security software. Maybe firewall is also same. Can you or someone tell how I can find out and how I can uncheck. Thanks a lot.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
McAfee has a personal firewall that is an optional part of McAfee Security Center. Do you have that firewall installed? Or another one, e.g. Windows firewall, or ZoneAlarm firewall? You have to tell us what you have running on your computer; we cannot know this. Most firewalls show as an icon in the systray (Notification Area); hover your mouse-pointer over each icon - it will tell you what it is.P.S. please tell us exactly what McAfee software you have installed. Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs can tell you.
