Leonard Posted March 5, 2008 Report Share Posted March 5, 2008 I have tried malware and virus scans and found nothing to explain a repeated box stating"IEXPLORE.exe has generated errors and must close down".I have reloaded Internet Explorer 6 for my Windows 2000 and the messages continue.Any ideas please? MANEMAN Posted March 5, 2008 Report Share Posted March 5, 2008 If it already patched up to SP4 as suggested by Boris, and you've still got problems, Try turning off your Firewall and see if it still occurs, there was some trouble with Kaspersky and IE a while back.Also go to: IE6 / Tools / Manage Add-ons, and one by one try disabling what you have got in there. There is a drop down box - "Currently loaded" is one scenario, and "Have been used" another. You will have to work through it by a process of elimination. (could well be an ActiveX giving you this problem in certain situations)Come back and tell us if any of this cures your problem. Other people will be interested as well. MANEMAN Posted March 8, 2008 Report Share Posted March 8, 2008 Right ! :( This is where the detective work starts for you.We are just assuming here that it is a plug-in problem as you have already re-installed IE6. It could of course be something entirely different. There are so many variables with computers though, that you have got to at least try to follow a pathway and be able to exclude it.Start searching in "Google" for add-on problems Windows 2000. and finding out how to enable / disable things like ActiveX, and Browser helper objects.Suspect things like Adobe Reader, Real player, Shockwave Flash, Extra toolbars, etc;Try another Browser and see if something similar happens. (Firefox,Opera, Seamonkey, K-meleon) I wouldn't push anyone away from IE but it is worth a try.Try out your detective skills Leonard.
