stevei
Hi Guys,I have an old pc I want to get working. It runs Windows ME and had no sound card, so I got a second hand Creative Sound Blaster PCI with a drivers disc. All installed ok but the sound is very low, I can hardly hear it at all. What do I need to do? I ain't too techy where these things are concerned so would be glad of any help. Thanks,Steve.
MANEMAN
Hi Steve, Welcome.I wont go into too much detail for now, just a few quick thoughts on my part. I haven't got ME running anymore so it's from memory only.Right click on the little loudspeaker icon in the tray (right hand bottom) and try to select "adjust audio properties". When you are in there try to have a dig around to see if the volume is muted or needs turning up with one of the sliders (can also be the "Wave" slider affects it too I think)If the Motherboard was originaly equipped with onboard sound it may be that you will have to go into the BIOS and turn that off.Are you sure this secondhand soundcard is ok? Can you try it in another computer.Try the card in another PCI slot.Sure you've got the speakers plugged into the correct output socket on the card and not into an original on the motherboard ?Have a go Steve, if no luck come back here again.
