Coreper Posted March 9, 2008 Report Share Posted March 9, 2008 i recently installed a program [Maya] where you need to have 3 mousebuttons, but my mouse [Logitech G5] only has got 2 mousebuttons [with an extra on the side though]so i have the problem i cant operate Maya completely with only 2 mousebuttons, because im missing the middle mouse button...i already contacted Autodesk [the company where Maya comes from], but they told me that one of the hardware requirements for Maya is, a 3 buttonmouse...changing the settings in Maya also isnt possible...so i thought: maybe it could be configurable in my Logitech driversbut, i had a look and i cant change the sidebutton on my G5 to a third [middle] mousebutton...i contacted Logitech about this, but i havent got a reply.i read something about a utility called "xmodmap" which can change the mouse input/keymap, but i couldnt find a download or something like that, anywhere...so i was wondering if anyone of you know a way to change my mouse input/keymap?ALL help is appreciatedbtw: im not sure if i placed this topic in the right section [software or hardware issue section] Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Coreper Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Share Posted March 10, 2008 i had a long search [again] myself, and this time i did find something very usefull:X-Mouse Button Controlthanks to the extra side button on my G5 mouse, i am able to convert it to a middle mouse button, using the X-Mouse Button Control software!the best about that program is, that it can be set application specific: so the changes to the mouse buttons only apply to a certain program!i love it!thanks for the help thoughsearching google appears to be [again] the best way to find a solution for a problem Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
