Dencandy
There's a handy utility called Bootvis which may fix this. You can get it from pcstats here. This site also has instructions how to use it. Occasionally it doesn't run due to other software you have installed. I use it every 3 months and it always improves boot-up time. It works by optimising the layout of the start-up prgrammes on your hard disk. Before using it I also suggest you run CheckDisk to scan the hard disk for corrupt sectors. To find it, go to My Computer; right click on the disk or partition that has your systems files; select Properties, then Tools, then Error-checking. Tick both boxes to automatically check disk sectors and replace any system files that are on corrupted sectors. Close all windows and shut down & re-start Windows.CheckDisk will run immediately on boot-up. You don't have to do anything else, the check will run automatically and can take upto 20 mins or more.Shut down again and re-start, checking the time. If there's no or little improvement, then run Bootvis as pcstats describes. If neither of these produce a noticeable improvement, then you've got a more serious problem so come back to the forum. Let us know the result in any case as feedback is very useful.
andsome
How often do you defrag the hard drive? Do you have AV and a firewall installed? Do you have any Anti Malware programs installed?
