Problems with asus p5k motherboard

Recommended Posts

hi everyone!

i just had my new computer yesterday and i've been playing around as usual.

I began by hooking up my projector to my new pc (which took some configuring). During configuration, i lowered the refresh rate on my monitor to try and sync my projector with my pc monitor.

now, the problem i have is that i can see the pc boot screens etc then all of a sudden, my monitor says "out of range" - also i have no display on my projector! i have also tried using my tv and still no desktop!

So, i thought i'd go into safe mode and everything will be ok....wrong! I press F8 for safemode and i get a screen that asks me which device i want to boot from (BBS) but no option for safe mode!

I have an Asus p5k motherboard and i can't find any way to either enter safe mode so i can get the default safemode resolution, or to disable this annoying BBS menu.

Maybe there is another way to stop my monitor saying " out of range" ?? or do i need to get into safemode? if so, how?!

i'm confused...

Any help would be much appreciated

mallett

Timing is everything. Wait for the machine to POST, and hit F8 just as Windows starts loading. That should do it.

Do you have a wireless keyboard - if so are you pressing the func key when hitting F8. Also - it may be better to connect a wired keyboard.
