MacOSXrocksToo Posted April 13, 2008 Report Share Posted April 13, 2008 Hey, I just got a new, well, not really "new", but better than the one I had for free, Dell (see sig.). Anyway, I transferred all of my files over with backup and restore, but for some reason it didn't copy over my settings, o well, not worried about it. But I am a little bugged by another problem, in device manager, there is an item named, "Multimedia Audio Controller", that has a yellow exclamation point over it. I don't know where to find the driver for it, but I did for everything else, and everything else works fine, Internet (Ethernet), Sound, Video Card, etc. Can anyone find out where to get a driver for this?Please don't say, "Well if everything works fine, don't worry about it". BTW, I do get an annoying "New found hardware" message for that one thing when my computer boots up.Thanks guys! :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There may even be a troubleshooter you can run.As for the new device found when you start Windows - do you let it install? Any idea what it is? AlanHo Posted April 13, 2008 Report Share Posted April 13, 2008 You made me curoius, so I had a look at the Device Manager on my computer.I found two items with Yellow markers - the Multi Media Audio Controller and an SM Bus Controller.- but the computer is working fine.I did a bit of googling and came to the conclusion that some chipset driver(s) had not been installed when I built the computer a few months ago. I opened the ASUS motherboard CD and loaded the Intel chipset drivers. Lo and behold - the yellow flags have now gone away - but I can detect no difference in the computer's operation. catgate Posted April 13, 2008 Report Share Posted April 13, 2008 I have had something similar, Alan, with my "remotherboarded" W98SE machine. I put it down to using a separate graphics card and not using the on board affair. But of course I may well be barking up the wrong tree again.
