denno
Well, here we are again. Trying to make a new logical drive. Here's why: I am trying to retrieve my Incredimail address book from my old hard drive. think I've somehow ditched it.{Tried to drag Incredimail from old HD to new -- using USB connection rig -- didn't take. Also somehow maybe MOVED it rather than COPIED? Then downloaded Inc.M. and installed fresh on new computer. Possibly this overrode my attempted but nonworking previous drag-over? But I have a backup from a few weeks ago of the the whole HD on Acronis, on an external HD. So my thought is to make a partition, (or logical drive?) and download another copy of Inc.M. to that, then try to COPY the appropriate files into that version. You following this okay?}So unless someone knows I'm about to really goof up, or knows a better way to attempt this, or knows how to transfer address book (and old e-mails) from Incredimail to Outlook.................I'm following instructions from the Internet on partitioning, I get into Disk Management, it tells me right-click on the unallocated space and I will get a choice of New Drive. (Yes, I'm the administrator, by default, apparently). I don't really see where I am to right-click. Put it on the NTFS main body of the graphic of the C drive, but New Drive is not one of the menu choices. If you understand this possibly convoluted description, please guide me somewhere! If not, I'll try to be more clear.Denno
Alan2273
If you only have one hard drive and it is partitioned as C:/ then you will need a partitioning programme as it will not allow you to partition the drive that is in use.Google GParted, (it is free) that will do your partition, but read up on how to use it first as it can destroy everything if you go wrong. You can also get a paid for version called Partition Magic.
