mxx
OS: Windows XP HomeWhen I put a CD/DVD data disk in my laptop, no matter what type of file it is, folders of MP3's MPEGS, AVI, etc., the icon of the folders are that of the Internet Explorer icon. This happens in every view except the Thumbnail view. I am not able choose 'Custom' when choosing properties on the folder because these are read only files on the CD/DVD. I would like the folders to be shown as the default folder icon. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Scarecrow Man
Also,Windows maintains a cached copy of all the icons on the system to avoid having to reload the icons every time they are displayed. If this icon cache becomes corrupt then the wrong icons may be shown. To clear the icons cache make sure you can view hidden files and then open your Windows directory in Explorer and delete the file called "ShellIconCache".When you restart Windows the icon cache file will be automatically recreated.
