Bios on another computer?

Recommended Posts

Are you asking if you can flash the BIOS or remove the BIOS chip and insert it in another motherboard.

If it is a BIOS flash it will be specific to that motherboard, the same goes for extracting a BIOS chip and putting it in another motherboard.

Unless it is the same exact motherboard, the answer is no, all you will suceed in doing is killing the motherboard.

If you want to correct a corrupt BIOS you need to go to the manufactures site and download the specific BIOS for that motherboard then flash it, but get it wrong and you have another paperweight.

Please cross check before updating / installing BIOS on any motherboard. Its a big pain in the @$$ if anything goes wrong. I had seen a motherboard which doesn't even start due to BIOS BOOT failure (not the DISK BOOT Failure we see commonly).
