windows freezing (think only when using ie7)

I have vista home premium 32

Internet explorer keeps freezing my PC - to the point that it is impossible to click on any other windows. Eventually it frees up as if some resource is being consumed. Any suggestions as to how to investigate this.

On XP, initial problems with IE7 are often solved by uninstalling (it reverts back to IE6), then downloading a new copy and installing that one. When installing the new copy some have found it helps to physically disconnect from the internet and temporarily turn off your anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall. Once the first screen comes up, reconnect and turn all these apps back on again as you'll need them to update, etc. I don't see why you shouldn't try this with Vista. If it doesn't have IE6 you ca nuse another browser to download IE7 again.

IE7 is a very useful browser when it's running smoothly.

Thanks - I tried turning off phishing - which seems to be the answer - all is OK now - I wish I had tried this weeks ago.
