Tony.W.
I would be grateful if any-body could assist me with the following.I was recieving a lot of DCOM Errors just after logging on to my computer I eventually managed to track it down to a Photo editing programme which I deleted and then replaced it with an alternative. The problem is that in the Component services tool (DCOM Config)this message keeps coming up "Configuration Warning The clisd (followed by lots of numbers)item C/PROGRAMME FILES/NIKON/VIEWNX/VIEW NXE.has the named value APPID and is not recorded do you wish to do so" I keep clicking on the no option and have even tried the yes many times but it still keeps coming up.I have rechecked my programme files and it has definately been deleted. Can anybody suggest where else I should look to try and remove all trace of it.Many thanks,To oblige,Tony.W. -pops-
When you deleted the photo editing program, did you delete via the uninstall procedure given with the program or just tell it to "go away"? If the latter there are probably residues of code left in the computer that are causing your current problem. The thing to do then is re-install the program and then remove following the recommended procedure. You might also look at http://www.grc.com/freeware/dcom.htm for DCOM problems and the "dcombobulator". Tony.W.
HI PopsUnfortuantely I have not yet worked out how to reply to the forum(I think I have now) as you will no doubt see I have somehow managed to duplicate your earlier reply, sorry !I have no idea how I did that.Anyway when I originally took of my editing programe I did so in the folders section and simply sent it to the recycle bin.I am fairly new to computing so wasnt sure how it should be done. Thanks to your advice I reinstalled it and then found the correct uninstall tab and removed it properly.Since then no more problems.I am very grateful that you took the time and trouble to reply to my request and wish you all the best,Tony.W. -pops-
Pleased it worked for you.It is always advisable to remove programs by either using the program's own uninstall system or (exceptionally) using Windows own Add/Remove method. Please stick around - we are always more than happy to help if we can and if you look through the pages here you will see there is a good social part as well. J-Man
I don't have any good advice in fact I'm not sure if i should be posting here, but sometimes forums do not like multiple topics or threads? on the same thing. So i am replying to an existing topic that i think i fall into the same category generally speaking. My problem is I play Call of Duty 4 and my game freezes so i checked the event viewer under system and this is what it said:Source: DCOMType: ErrorEvent ID: 10016The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {555F3418-D99E-4E51-800A-6E89CFD8B1D7} to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.I clicked the link given and tried to follow the steps given, but at a certain step in the registry it pointed me to go to i couldn't find it.I am not sure if that would have fixed the problem anyway. If any of you have any advice or insight that would be great.I will post part of my dxdiag file. so you can see my system specs. If you want me to post the whole thing i can, i just feel that posting the whole thing hurt me when i posted this problem on another forum.I am running Windows XP 64 just wanted to put emphasis on 64 because it was acting like this problem was specific to the 64bit platform.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________dxdiag file:------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 10/1/2008, 16:05:19 Machine name: JUSTIN-BC7FAA0C Operating System: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (5.2, Build 3790) Service Pack 2 (3790.srv03_sp2_gdr.070321-2337) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: NVIDIA System Model: 132-CK-NF79 BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: Intel® Pentium® III processor (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz Memory: 2046MB RAM Page File: 537MB used, 3429MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.3790.3959 64bit Unicode------------DxDiag Notes------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found.
