shokan
When turning on my home PC, I got a message saying Telnet.exe had a problem and whether I want to send an error report to Microsoft. What is Telnet, and why did this error message appear? Thanks.

shokan
Plenty of info here :DThanks for the link. Because I got that "encountered a problem with telnet.exe and has to close" message, does this mean someone is remotely accessing my activities? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Telnet should not be running on startup; install Startup Inspector and see if you have telnet.exe somewhere in your startup items.
shokan
Telnet should not be running on startup; install Startup Inspector and see if you have telnet.exe somewhere in your startup items. Thanks for your reply. No, it wasn't on the Startup list. But, it is under Processes in Task Manager. I stop the process and it reappears when I reboot. Should it be there?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
If it is not in the startup list, and you didn't start it, then it shouldn't be running.Check your system for malware. What malware protection do you have? Start with an online scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ (try v6.6, as it is easier and faster than v6.5).
