How to install XP on to a new hard drive - HELP!

I am upgrading my girlfriend's compact Fujitsu P2110 which is 7 years old. I've maxed out on RAM already, also bought a new battery. Now I am about to install a new hard drive. I've looked at her supplied disks. She bought the P2110 in Hong Kong. There is a Fujitsu recovery disk but no Windows XP disk. It looks like XP was preinstalled. There is the original Windows sticker on the laptop.

How would I get the OS moved over on to a new hard drive?

Will that be on the Recovery disk?

I really just want to do a clean reinstall of XP. There is precious little data on the laptop that I want.

Sounds to me like he purchase of a new XP installation. But then I'm tanked at the moment.

Have you actually looked at the recovery disk? Most likely, everything will be on the recovery disk.

The Recovery disk hads 4 options. None of them look like clean install. I'm at work and can't recall what they were.

Apparently the HD has a 1.5 GB partition with an image of the HD. This is loist if I reintall. I need to clone in order to save this. Why would I want to save that?

Will I also have to download tons of drivers if I do a clean reinstall?

If there is no Windows recovery disk, or a Windows recovery partition, then I would do something like

• install Acronis True Image
  
• make a backup image (maybe on the new disk, partitioned, and mounted as an external disk?)
  
• replace the disk
  
• restore the backup image onto the C: partition of the replaced disk
  
• reboot Windows
