"USB device not recognized"

Recommended Posts

Im having a problem with a USB device that i hope you guys can help me with.

I've got at sandisk cruzer titanium that has worked wonders for more than a year. Then a few days ago i was using it to transer files between my laptop and a few other computers. Then, all of a sudden, it just stopped working on my laptop. When i plugged it in i was met with the message "USB device not recognized". Ive tried all the ports. Ive tried deleting the incache file, as some people suggested. Ive tried some other stuff too but nothing worked and i decided to format the machine since it sort of needed it anyways. But it still doesnt work. The pen drive works on all other machines ive tested it on, three XP machines and a Vista. All other USB hardware work on my laptop, running Vista, including other USB pen drives. I admit, i didnt unplug it the right way, using "safely remove", i just yanked it out. But can it realy be true that there is nothing that can fix this? I hope you guys can help!

You have answered the question yourself.

If you unplug a USB drive whilst it is reading/writing/doing anything at all there is a strong possibility that you will wreck it beyond repair.

Yeah i know, and i usually do it the right way but was i kind of a hurry. Stupid i know.... But the thing is, the pendrive works on all other machines ive tested it on, as does all other usb hardware in all ports of my laptop. Its only that one pendrive in my laptop that doesnt work.
