toddC
Okay well I'm new here but definately not new to computers. Here's my problem: I built my computer about 3-4 years ago. It is not in the best condition anymore but still gets most of what I need it to do done. Now it was broken this past summer and I got it repaired but ever since it has been running quite slow. Finally today I stumbled upon what I think could be the problem. I pushed ctrl +alt + delete to end some processes and it said my CPU usage was 100%. I'm almost positive this is what is causing my computer to run so slowly. What could be the main cause of this? I'm not even running too much stuff right now. How can I fix it? Thanks. Dencandy
Windows Task Manager will tell which processes and applications are running.Have you looked at what programmes are launched at start up? Maybe you have too many that are not needed. StartUp Inspector will tell you what's happening (from here: http://www.windowsstartup.com/startupinspector.php).Do you have enough RAM? Absolute minimum is 500MB with today's bloated programmes.
