jboard1 Posted June 5, 2008 Report Share Posted June 5, 2008 So here is the situation - I have setup an old box I had laying around as an XP machine that is being used for a file server/back up machine on my home network. I am running vista and remotley accessing the XP server. While I am remoted in, i can't move any windows that are open, nor can i resize them. It was an original base XP pro image with no updates on it. So as I type, I am installing all the updates necessary. I can't imagine it would be an update issue though. Does anyone have any ideas of why this may be happening?p.s. - when i access the machine locally i can resize and move windows normally...Thanks,Jeff Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But i've got a personal hatred for RAM issues from my past machines so i'm probably wrong is making that assumption.Doesn't Vista have a problem closing/minimizing/resizing windows anyway? However, there is another XP machine in the house, so I used that to remote in to the XP "file server". While remoted in from that machine, I could move/resize windows. So it is definitly an issue from Vista to XP. But i can't find anyone else that has experience this problem, so I am not sure if it is a universal issue or maybe that the remote desktop clients are different versions and are not compatible.
