Bryce Posted June 25, 2008 Report Share Posted June 25, 2008 I just got a message from a friend who uses Windows that they could not see the taskbar when loading windows. Since they are an internet friend, I do not know what version of Windows they have. However, I did ask what they had. I gave them my two suggestions of a fresh reinstall from the Windows install disc or a hard reboot but I also want to see about the other options. The friend did say they tried everything they could, but don't know if they did a fresh reinstall too. I'll find out when they contact me but in the meantime, I'm going to post a bit of the message.For some reason, everytime I turn on my computer, when I get to the main screen, I type in my password and it loads the desktop and the icons. The problem is I cannot figure out where my Start Menu went. The task bar at the bottom DOES NOT appear. I checked the start up folder for it and the program folder is in there, but it appears my start up menu went A-Wall. The BK [changed to protect an identity and is not in the original, which says who] and I have been trying everything to figure out how to be able to make the start button appear at the bottom so I can have access to the start menu, but no luck finding it anywhere. Dencandy Posted June 26, 2008 Report Share Posted June 26, 2008 Before starting any of the above, please ask your friend to check just one thing (because this may save them a lot of work) - the TaskBar may be hidden under the main window. If there's just a line across the bottom of the screen use drag (hold down left button) to pull it back up. Otherwise, tell your friend toright click on the Start button, click on Properties & look at the TaskBar pane. If the box next to Keep Task on Top is not ticked, your friend should tick on it.
