USB device’s recognized but no transfer.

Recommended Posts

Hi

Two weeks ago both my digital cameras and Sony flash mp3 player were working fine transferring Files to and from My PC via USB.

Then all three stopped transferring Photos/music a balloon would appear in the bottom right of screen telling me the device was recognized.

The batteries would charge but no file transfer, when I look in my computer I can’t see the device.

I have since changed my motherboard, CPU and Memory and the same happens.

Regards

Scott

In addition to pops advice, have you tried a different port, or have you tried plugging in a different device to the same port, e.g. a printer? :D
I've tried them in different ports with the same outcome

Other devices e.g. a printer do work in the same port

I wonder if the mother board is on the way out. I have two USB ports at the rear top, and two at the front top. In addition there are four more at the rear bottom. The rear bottom ones work fine with a plug in flash drive, but NOT with an external hard drive or a printer. I have had the computer checked out and the voltages at the bottom bank are all haywire, while the others are fine. I have been told that only a new mother board will solve the problem, but to leave well alone if I can manage without them. This suits me fine as I have no real need for them. :D

I will try the device's on another pc at the weekend.

How would i check the voltage on the usb ports, they should be OK as the motherboard in new.

When i go through my pic's on the camera i can only look at the first 18 pics then the camera jams, if i put the SD card in a card reader could a fault transfer and damage the reader.

i can still take pics with the Camera so I'm shaw the card is Bug/error free

Thanks

Scott
