Ran old program, lost mouse acceleration

Recommended Posts

I hope someone can help me with this. I ran a really old program on Vista from windows 3.11 called control.exe and adjusted mouse settings. I didn't think it would actually work, but I increased the cursor flash speed, the double click speed, and somehow removed mouse acceleration. I don't mind the cursor speed and double click being changed, but the mouse accel I want back but the program won't change it back. I can't find an option in Vista either, so it must have changed a registry setting? How do I fix my accel? Any help appreciated.

System Restore to a time before you did this?

Do you have a full system backup? If you don't can I strongly suggest that you make one without delay - and keep it up to date.

Before making changes to any of my computers I ensure that I have made a new backup and also a System Restore in case anything goes wrong - which it may well do. I don't know how reliable System Restore is in Vista but, in XP, it shouldn't be depended on as the only fail safe.
