Problem with remote control software

Hi,

I have two PCs which can ping each other. Windows XP, configured in the same network (ie: 192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0). There is NO firewall enabled.

BUT i am trying to use remote control software and I can't do it. Both Real VNC and Remote control from Windows are not working.

Situation A:

PC 1 as client and PC 2 as server ==> WORKS

Situation B:

PC 2 as client and PC 1 as server ==> NOT WORKING

Both have the server application enabled and working.

Any Ideas?

Regards

Did you try :

Log in to PC2

start>run>cmd>telnet PC1.Ipaddress 5900

If there is no responce so you do not have RealVNC service running or VNC server runing on that port is disabled by Firewall(by default the port is tcp 5900)

Log in to PC1

start>run>cmd>netstat -anb | find /i "5900"

There should be a record somethink like this

C:\>netstat -anb | find /i "5900"
TCP 0.0.0.0:5900 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 2196

If you do not have the record lyou might be sure that the VNC server is not runing.

If you have that record you might have problem with your firewall

Try to disable it with this command

start>run>cmd>netsh firewall set opmode disable

(Windows firewall only)

If you wish paste Logs from commands from PC1

telnet 127.0.0.1 5900

and

netstat -anb

I recomend to use UltraVNC if you wish to use programs like RealVNC .UltraVNC is more secured
