This isn't really a complaint mind you, just an observation. The grammer used by the general populace of the forum is appalling.I have yet to understand why people who SMS, email, IM, have to revert to sub-english forms of words like "lol" "omfg". It really makes me disappointed to see the english language butchered in such a way. But I don't understand why it is done. Does it save time? Is it a popularity thing or a conformity thing? I asked my friend after he sent a barely decipherable SMS to me why he used "netspeak" or "l33tspeak". He replied "It saves me credit". Now, in Australia, Telstra offer a 1c text deal which basically means you pay 1c per text to another telstra number. 90% of the people I know are on Telstra, which means we can send thousands of texts very cheaply. Telstra do not charge by the letter or the word, they charge per 160 characters. So how does talking in netspeak save you money when the text messages cost you 1c anyway?As I said, I am not complaining. I am not the most well spoken person by far. I just find that seeing the grammer I had drummed into me for 12 years of schooling completely stripped and replaced by barebones English annoys me greatly. If you want discussions on current usage of the English language - including "grammer", I'm sure you will be able to find a forum with that dedication but this one is not it.
