Install Windows on another PC

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm just wondering...if I don't want to use a copy of Windows on a PC, then can I just forget about it and install on another using the same product key? In other words, can I just abandon one PC and "transfer" everything over to another one (using same product key)? I'm asking this because I'm worried one of my computer will crash. Oh yeah, if it crashes, can I just reinstall Windows again (on the same hardware)? Will Microsoft see it as two installs? Thanks in advance!

BTW, my copy is an OEM version. Well, more specifically, my school's version since they allow students free Windows (legal since everyone gets different product key; they partnered with Microsoft).

One licence = one computer. You can however reinstall Windows if you have problems with your computer. I recently installed Windows on a new hard drive, the other one having failed. The only time you may get a problem is if you replace the mother board, and you may then need to contact Microsoft by telephone to explain what is going on. :D
