I'm trying to configure the ILOM settings on our servers running Server 2003. I'm connecting through the back network management port on our Sun servers to do this. An example command for the ILOM interface is as follows>>

set /SP/network/pendingipaddress=0.0.0.0

this will make a temporary change for the ip address. To make it permanent, you have to run this command>>

set /SP/network/commitpending=true

whenever i run the second command to make the temporary changes permanent, it gives me this error:

unable to get network management property

and won't let me change the settings. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? I've noticed that it only does this on a few server, most of them let me change the network settings without any problems.

When configuring un cabled Sun T4 and T5 servers, you will not be able to completely configure them because the ntmgt port is not linked. You can however use a live ILO cable from another server to link up the netmgt port. Then you can proceed with your ILOM configuration.
