Need new software

Recommended Posts

So I have a Windows XP Home Edition 2002 and am kind of wanting to upgrade...I mainly want all those joys and benefits of Windows Media Center and the such. I am slightly uneducated in this and want to know if there is a way to do this without buying an entirely new computer? (and if possible leaving Vista out of it)

Though I would also be willing for Vista Premium if it is worth it. I just want to be sure I'll be able to make it work on my computer as it is now. If it is cheaper to just get the Media Center (if that if possible) then I'd like to try that, its just Microsoft seems to only want to sell me vista =\ I am quite retarded in this area

Media Centre PCs have specific hardware requirements - which may not be on your current PC

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is an operating system that is only available on Media Center PCs. Because of special hardware requirements, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005-based PCs are available only from Microsoft PC Manufacturer partners.

Is your PC one of these ?

Probably a label on the back ???

From your previous post and your CPU spec I guess that your machine is older than any on that page.

It is possibly this one ?

If so .......... it can only take 1GB of RAM so it would IMHO not be any use running Vista :(
