Tyler
Hi All, I am a self-confessed formatter. My biggest b***h about Win XP is that it doesn't actually clean my HD (which is the point of formatting) if I do a restore. My HD is a mess and I am seriously considering going back to 98 for this reason.Janis
y2khardtop
just DBAN (derek boot & nuke) before you reinstall. NO version of windows actually deletes data....just deletes the reference in the table of contents, but if you Nuke it before you install, you'll at least have a clean start. andsome
Either there is something amiss with the computer or you are doing something wrong. Before I installed Acronis I formatted and reinstalled Window XP several times, with NO PROBLEMS at all. The computer was squeaky clean after each install. Windows 98 would be a very retrograde step. Was XP the original operating system, or was it installed as an update? If it is the latter, that could be the root cause of your problems. In my honest opinion, updates of an old operating system to another one are one of the leading causes of problems posted on forums. :D
