keyboard key functions scrambled

After jostling in transport, my Microsoft Wireless 3000 keyboard works - but all keys now perform new functions. When I type "abcdegf", I get "4365- [". Keys in the top row (QWER...) perform other functions like deleting text, etc. I can find no way to "reset" the keys to their original functions. What am I missing?

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

What is your actual keyboard layout (UK, US, etc.)?

What is your installed keyboard driver (Control Panel; Keyboard Properties), and what is your defined keyboard layout (Control Panel; Regional & Language Options; Text Services & Input Languages)?

Keyboard layout is US.

Driver is Microsoft 6.30.183.0 5/26/2008. I tried to update the driver, but was told this was the most recent.

Regional & Language options = Englich (US).

My standard keyboard on my Dell D800 works as usual, as does the Microsoft Wireless Optical mouse that uses the same desktop receiver as the keyboard (they came as a set). Control Panel says the "device is working properly".

I assume something within the keyoard has been altered (reset?) during transport.

Should I uninstall then reinstall the driver?

As far as I recall (I've given up with most things wireless), wireless items have a reset switch on the underside usually accessed by a pin or opened paper clip or a small button and held pressed for a few seconds.

Possibly worth a try.

Yessss!! The reset button did the trick. How simple - if you know about it! Unfortunatley, I didn't bring the user's guide along - and could not find such on line.

Thanks to all! - Enkidu
