seankua
Hello, i am having a problem with my ram setup, i just got myself a 2gb ram, my system has a 2 1gb ram inside right now, and i have 2 spare slots to slot in my ram, and after i insert, my system could only detect a maximum of 3.25gb, why couldn't they detect a total of 4gb ram? Sorry im quite a newbie regarding computer, i hope someone can help me answer this. Thank you
AlanHo
I guess you are using VIsta 32 as the operating system. In which case it can only see just over 3 GB of RAM. It's nothing to worry about - but is a feature of Vista. You need to use Vista 64 if you want to use large amounts of RAMI have two Vista computers at home with similar specs - one has 4GB of RAM (but only 3.16 GB can be seen by Vista) the other has 2 GB of RAM. I cannot detect any difference in the performance of the computers - they both boot up within a second or two of each other and run software at similar speeds. This leads me to conclude that anything above 2 GB of RAM is not needed.Put "vista 3.25 GB RAM" in Google - you will get dozens of similar stories. Alan2273
The same applies to XP.
