AlanHo
Yesterday at 2.30 pm I ordered on Ebay a small leather case for my digital camera. Much to my surprise the item arrived this morning. The price for a similar case from the camera supplier was £14.99 inc £1.25 P&P - but the Ebay price was £1.50 plus £3.50 P&P - total £5.00. I thought when I ordered it that the P&P charges were a bit steep - but the total cost was a third of the other. Now I know why.In the parcel was a letter from the supplier worded as follows....Thank you for buying my item. I am very pleased to provide service to you not only before your payment but also after you receive the item. If you are not satisfied about the item, please let me know. I am really concerned about ensuring your satisfaction. By the way, in order to compete with the sellers from Hong Kong on EBay we have to keep our P&P fees less but similar to theirs. It is not generally known that the post fees of small items within the UK are higher than the post fees from Hong Kong. Hence Hong Kong sellers get a higher return from their P&P charges. EBay lists the items according to the P&P feedback when buyers search items using a search engine. Consequently our items are at the end of the search listing even though the total delivered price is the same and our services are faster and better. If we were to raise the unit price and lower the P&P to keep the total price equivalent to the Hong Kong sellers - EBay will take most of our profit by final value charges. This is UNFAIR TO UK SELLERS. So please support all UK sellers on EBay! Please give higher point on P&P feedback.THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION Interesting Eh........? catgate
Fascinating. It does answer a couple of questions, but it raises a few more.
